Don’t Miss Out on The Joy of Connection

You know how great you feel when someone wants to hear your story?

When they take time to really know “the you below the surface?”

It leaves you feeling seen and heard… and valued.

This is the power of connection. I want to dig into it with you today because connection can be a great source of joy.

It may be an untapped source.

In fact, if your joy bucket’s a little low, let me encourage you to stop now and consider whether you’ve really connected with anyone recently.

Because the thing is, everyone’s got a story.

Yours needs to be heard. So do theirs.

Recently, we got together at the Silver Lining Stories Livecast and heard honest, authentic stories from people about some of their lowest moments… and where joy was found.

We laughed, we celebrated, we cried… we connected.

If you missed some of the stories, you can get recordings of them by clicking here.

Because we all have a story, I’d like to share the story behind the photo that I used for the event itself. This one. ⬇️

Yes, that’s me, jumping in an epic puddle with a waterproof bluetooth speaker playing Bruno Mars (not a chainsaw, as our event emcee, Jack Hollingsworth, asked. Wasn’t he great, by the way?)

On the day it was taken, my daughter and I were returning home from town on a beautiful rainy afternoon. Being spontaneous is another huge source of joy and when I saw that enormous puddle, begging to be jumped in, I pulled the car over.

Next thing you know, I was dancing, jumping, twisting, laughing and splashing. I played until my heart was content, muddy water soaking my clothes, Uptown Funk blasting on repeat in the rain… pure joy.

Since it wasn’t planned, I didn’t have a towel. So I kinda shook the water off my legs before we got in the car to go home.

As we drove, I could feel it dripping down my legs, but there was nothing I could do about it. I tried to ignore the feeling.

And I started thinking, “gosh, some of those drips are going up.” 😲

That’s when I looked down and saw the worms.

There were so many tiny white worms (maggots?) inching up and down my legs, I had to be careful not to panic and crash the car as I wondered how to get them off.

I pulled over and burst out of that door SO fast.

You wanna talk about jumping?! 😂

In the end, I survived… and now it’s part of my story.

Aren’t you glad you know?

When it comes to stories, the Silver Lining Stories Livecast taught us that everyone’s got one.

What’s the silver lining in my story? I get to share it with you now and make you smile. That’s good news!

If your joy bucket’s a little on the empty side, connect with someone today.

Ask about their story. You’ll both experience the joy of connection.

It feels good to feel good. #Feelgood.

I’ll see you over at Joy To The World Coaching.

PS: Did you hear we are going to #feelgood and hang out together for a week (at night, online)?

Until next time…
